CAHPS Child Hospital Survey Database

The CAHPS Child Hospital Survey (Child HCAHPS) Database is a central repository of survey data from hospitals that have administered the Child HCAHPS survey and chose to submit their data to the Database.

  • Participating in the Child Hospital Survey Database. Participation is free and open to all users of this survey, provided the questionnaires are administered in a manner consistent with CAHPS guidance and survey data are submitted according to CAHPS specifications.
  • Using the data for research. De-identified data files at the respondent and hospital/health system level are also available for approved research. 

Review Results From the CAHPS Child Hospital Survey Database

Aggregated results from the Child Hospital Survey can be reviewed in two formats: Chartbooks and Data Tools.

Chartbooks

CAHPS Child Hospital Survey Chartbooks summarize the survey results in a given year.

Note: The 2024 Child HCAHPS Chartbook contains 2023 Child HCAHPS Survey data. The 2023 Child HCAHPS Chartbook contains 2022 Child HCAHPS Survey data. The 2021 Child HCAHPS Chartbook contains 2021 Child HCAHPS Survey data.

CAHPS Data Tools

The CAHPS Data Tool for the Child Hospital Survey Database displays aggregated results for composite measures, rating measures, and individual survey items. This CAHPS Data Tool presents the following data:

  • Overview: The number of respondents and hospitals represented in the most recent surveys.
  • Top Box Results: The percentage of survey respondents who chose the most positive score for a given item’s response scale.
  • Bar Charts: A graphical distribution of survey results that shows the top, bottom, and middle response categories.
