AHRQ Projects Funded by the Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Trust Fund
The Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality's (AHRQ) Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Trust Fund projects for training and career development, and dissemination and implementation.
Public Law 111-148 established the Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Trust Fund (PCORTF). In fiscal year 2011, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services began receiving 20 percent of the funds appropriated or credited to the PCORTF.
AHRQ, under section 937 of the Public Health Service Act, uses the funds it receives to:
- Establish grants to train researchers.
- Disseminate research findings of the Patient Centered Outcomes Research Institute and other Government-funded research.
- Assist with the incorporation of research findings.
- Establish a process for receiving feedback on information disseminated.
AHRQ-supported activities will maintain the infrastructure to support research now and in the future and provide for a growing number of flexible, well-trained researchers to accommodate demands.
AHRQ's PCORTF projects fall within one of the following categories:
