PQMP-Related Publications

The Pediatric Quality Measures Program (PQMP) was established to increase the portfolio of evidence-based, consensus pediatric quality measures available to public and private purchasers of children’s health care services. As a central component of the Children’s Health Insurance Program Reauthorization Act of 2009 (CHIPRA), PQMP advances the law’s mandate to improve health care quality and health equity among low-income children. During two phases, the PQMP has funded seven Centers of Excellence (COEs) first to develop quality measures and then six COEs to implement, field test, and disseminate evidence-based consensus quality measures.

Public dissemination of key scientific findings and lessons learned concerning pediatric measures and their feasibility and usability is central to the CHIPRA legislation and goal of PQMP. During each phase, the PQMP prepared a journal supplement for publication in Academic Pediatrics. The articles in the supplements highlight the work of the PQMP-COEs to increase the portfolio of pediatric quality measures and provide insights into the progress, challenges, and future of this effort. In addition, the PQMP-COEs have individually published on their work to develop, implement, and disseminate PQMP measures.

PQMP 1.0 Journal Supplement: The first PQMP supplement features the work of the initial phase CEOs to develop new, evidence-based pediatric quality measures. 

PQMP 2.0 Journal Supplement: The second PQMP supplement features the work of second phase CEOs to implement PQMP measures in real world settings.

Advances in Children's Healthcare Quality: The Pediatric Quality Measures Program 2.0: The articles in this Academic Pediatrics supplement examine the opportunities and challenges associated with the PQMP 2.0 Centers' work and how findings may advance the science for pediatric quality measurement and improvement, and ultimately child health outcomes.
