Resources for Health Care Quality Measurement
Several organizations and resources provide information on measures used in different health care settings. Refer to the Key Initiatives section to read about other initiatives that have contributed to understanding and improving the nation's health care quality.
National Quality Forum (NQF)
The National Quality Forum (NQF) is a private, not-for-profit membership organization created to develop and implement a national strategy for health care quality measurement and reporting. NQF members include representatives from all aspects of the healthcare industry, including consumers and patients, public and private purchasers, providers, and research and quality improvement organizations. The NQF endorses and updates sets of measures based on a voluntary consensus process and the application of rigorous criteria.
CMS Measures Inventory Tool
The CMS Measures Inventory Tool is a compilation of measures used by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services in various quality, reporting, and payment programs.
Guideline Central
Guideline Central offers free access to an inventory of quality measures using detailed descriptions originally created for the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality's National Quality Measures Clearinghouse.
