Karen Migdail
Acting Director, Office of Communications
Karen J. Migdail is the Acting Director of the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ) Office of Communications (OC). In this position, she works with OC to promote the results of Agency-sponsored research and to foster the implementation and use of AHRQ tools and products.
Prior to this role, she has served as Senior Communications Advisor, AHRQ Chief of Staff and Director of Media Relations. From October 2019 to April 2021, Ms. Migdail was on detail to the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, serving as Senior Communications Advisor for the President's Roadmap to Empower Veterans and End a National Tragedy of Suicide (PREVENTS) Task Force.
Prior to joining AHRQ, Ms. Migdail was the Senior Washington Editor at Faulkner & Gray’s Healthcare Information Center, where she was responsible for Washington news coverage for three newsletters covering medical outcomes and guidelines, quality management, and medical utilization management. She was also a regular contributor to top publications, including the Washington-based weekly newsletter, Medicine & Health.
Ms. Migdail, who is a fluent Spanish speaker, is a graduate of Syracuse University.
