Poor Quality Metrics: Blaming Data and Denying Responsibility
Resource: Improvement Tip: Take the Journey to “Jiseki”

This short article describes the four coping stages: denial of the data accuracy, denial there is a problem, denial of accountability, and finally, acceptance of responsibility. Reviewing and responding to performance metrics are the responsibilities of both care teams and practice leaders, as noted in Key Driver 4: Create and support high functioning teams to deliver high-quality evidence-based care and Key Driver 6: Nurture leadership and create a culture of continuous learning and evidence-based practice.
