This 2011 comprehensive report, published by the Institute of Medicine (now the National Academy of Medicine), recommends standards for developing and identifying trustworthy guidelines on care options for health care providers, patients, and organizations. Written by the members of the Committee on Standards for Developing Trustworthy Clinical Practice Guidelines, the document identifies best practices for the guidelines development process. These standards can also be used to identify reliable guidelines. The publication can help practices develop a process to research new evidence as part of Key Driver 1: Seek, select, and customize the best evidence for use by the practice.
