Project Description: This project has three main aims:

1. Conduct a systematic review of the literature of theories of decisionmaking and decision quality, and review existing measures of decision quality measures.
2. Describe the decisionmaking process of patients with stable coronary artery disease (CAD) and determine the relevant domains of decision quality for measurement.
3. Develop and field test a multidimensional measure of decision quality to be used to evaluate the effectiveness of the decisionmaking process for patients with stable CAD.

Career Goals: Dr. Lin is an Assistant Professor of Medicine at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF). She received her MD from the University of Michigan and did her residency in Internal Medicine at Barnes-Jewish Hospital at the Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis. The grantee went on to earn her MAS in Clinical Research from UCSF. Her long-term career goal is to improve the appropriateness of clinical care being delivered by improving decision-making by patients and physicians.

Progress to Date: This grant has just started.
