Project Description: The goal of this project is to identify methods to improve the identification and subsequent management of patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD) in primary care practices across the United States. The specific aims for the research are:
- Selecting a set of CKD quality indicators for primary care;
- Incorporating these CKD indicators in quarterly practice performance reports distributed to primary care practices with a PBRN;
- Developing clinical decision support tools that can be used to enhance the care of patients with CKD in primary care: and
- Implementing and evaluating the impact of these decision support tools in ten practices using validated interventions.
Career Goals: Dr. Litvin is an Internal Medicine Physician and Assistant Professor of General Internal Medicine and Geriatrics at the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) in Charleston. She received her medical degree from New York University and also has a Master of Science in Clinical Research, which she obtained from the MUSC. Her career goals include focusing on how technology can be most effectively utilized to improve the delivery of healthcare quality.
