Project Description: This research has three main aims:

1. Assess PSIs in surgical specialties at the national level.
2. Examine trends in national PSI events in surgical specialties.
3. Determine patient, physician, and organizational predictors of quality of care in surgical specialties.

Career Goals: Dr. Hernandez-Boussard is a Biostatistician-Co-Director of the Surgical Center for Outcomes Research and Evaluation, Department of Surgery, at Stanford University. She received her PhD in Biology at the University Claude Bernard, Lyon France. The grantee would like to develop into an independent, innovative health services researcher in the field of outcomes research with a focus on its applications to guide improvements in health care.
