Project Description: This research has three main aims:
- Examine the correlation between the patient-centered medical home (PCMH) recognition tool and a tool measuring the evidence-based features of primary care.
- Identify the factors underlying each of the tools.
- Assess the correlation between the PCMH recognition tool and a tool measuring the evidence-based features of primary care with clinical outcomes.
Career Goals: Dr. Malouin is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Pediatrics and Human Development as well as the Department of Family Medicine, both in the College of Human Medicine at Michigan State University in East Lansing, MI. She is also the Director of International Programs in the Department of Family Medicine. The grantee received her PhD in Public Health from Johns Hopkins University. Dr. Malouin's long-term career goal is to become an established independent health services researcher focusing on identifying appropriate elements to be included in a tool to evaluate the patient-centered medical home.
Progress to Date: The grantee has been in communication with study collaborators, including leaders within UnitedHealthcare and the National Committee for Quality Assurance.
Future Plans: Dr. Malouin will begin the survey and work on Aim #1.
