Attendees will be encouraged to participate in a question-and-answer session. Register for the webinar.
Highlights From AHRQ’s Patient Safety Network
AHRQ’s Patient Safety Network (PSNet) highlights journal articles, books and tools related to patient safety. Articles featured this week include:
- Exploring clinical lessons learned by experienced hospitalists from diagnostic errors and successes.
- Emergency department volume and delayed diagnosis of serious pediatric conditions.
- Disparities in racial, ethnic, and payer groups for pediatric safety events in US hospitals.
Review additional new publications in PSNet’s current issue or access recent cases and commentaries in AHRQ’s WebM&M (Morbidity and Mortality Rounds on the Web).
Updates to AHRQ Data Visualizations
Recent updates to AHRQ data visualizations provide fresh insights on three topics:
- Opioid Use Among Elderly and Non-Elderly Adults by Socioeconomic Characteristics provides estimates on "frequent use" and "any use" of opioids among adults aged 65 and older and adults aged 18–64 during 2015-16 and 2020-21.
- Healthcare Expenditures Among Persons With High Expenses, which shows dollar amounts spent on healthcare by people with high healthcare costs, allows users to explore the data by medical condition, demographic group and other variables.
- Trends in Health Insurance at Private Employers, 2008–2022 describes trends in employer-sponsored insurance, which is the primary source of health insurance coverage for individuals under age 65.
Access additional AHRQ data visualizations, developed as interactive tools to allow researchers, policymakers, healthcare leaders and others to view visual depictions of healthcare trends. Other topics include COVID-19 hospitalizations, emergency department visits and inpatient hospital stays for mental disorders.
