National Advisory Council for the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality to Hold Hybrid Meeting on November 16, 2023

The National Advisory Council (NAC) for the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ) will hold a hybrid meeting on November 16, 2023, from 10:45 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. E.T. at 5600 Fishers Lane, Rockville, MD 20857.
The NAC provides advice and recommendations to the AHRQ director and to the Secretary of the Department of Health and Human Services on priorities for a national health services research agenda. The council consists of 21 members from the private sector and 4 ex-officio members from other federal health agencies.
The meeting will feature several presentations by AHRQ leadership and other experts, including:
- Review of Recent Agency Accomplishments by Robert Otto Valdez, Ph.D., M.H.S.A., Director, AHRQ.
- Discussion of Consumer Experience Measurement on the Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems (CAHPS®) by Craig Umscheid, M.D., M.S., Director of the Center for Quality Improvement and Patient Safety (CQuIPS), AHRQ; Caren Ginsberg, Ph.D., Director, CAHPS Surveys on Patient Safety Culture Programs, CQuIPS, AHRQ; Ron D. Hays, Ph.D., Professor of Medicine and Health Policy and Management, UCLA Fielding School of Public Health; and Susan Edgman-Levitan, P.A.-C., Executive Director, John D. Stoeckle Center for Primary Care Innovation, Massachusetts General Hospital.
- Update on the Subcommittee of the National Advisory Council (SNAC) for the National Action Alliance to Advance Patient and Workforce Safety by Lucy A. Savitz, Ph.D., M.B.A. (SNAC Chair), Professor, Health Policy and Management, Director, External Affairs, University of Pittsburgh Graduate School of Public Health, Senior Advisor, UPMC Health Plan Services, Center for High-Value Health Care.
- Update on the SNAC for AHRQ's Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Trust Fund Investments by Karin Rhodes, M.D., M.S., Chief Implementation Officer, Office of the Director, AHRQ; Michael F. Dulin, M.D., Ph.D., Subject Matter Expert and Facilitator for the SNAC, Professor, Public Health Sciences, The University of North Carolina at Charlotte, Executive Director, The Academy for Population Health Innovation; and Therese (Tess) Miller, Dr.P.H., Director, Center for Evidence and Practice Improvement, AHRQ.
