How-To-Implement Toolkit
The Six Building Blocks: A Team-Based Approach to Improving Opioid Management in Primary Care (6BBs or Building Blocks) program provides a roadmap to improve care for patients with chronic pain who are using long-term opioid therapy (LtOT).
For additional background information, go to About AHRQ's Six Building Blocks: A Team-Based Approach to Improving Opioid Management in Primary Care Program.
To facilitate use of this program, AHRQ funded the development of a Six Building Blocks: A Team-Based Approach to Improving Opioid Management in Primary Care How-To-Implement Toolkit (How-To-Implement Toolkit) to provide evidence-based resources for care of patients with chronic pain who are using LtOT.
The How-To-Implement Toolkit helps clinic project managers and personnel in primary care lead their teams in implementing the 6BBs program and making opioid management improvements without external support. There are two potential approaches, Fast-Track and Full Program, for engaging in the Building Blocks program that are described in the table below.
