The display of performance scores for each topic uses symbols for top, above average, average, and below average performance. Users can also view detailed numeric data, including the rate for each clinic or medical group and the statewide average rate for that measure.

Quality ratings are displayed on a scale of one to four stars, with four stars indicating the highest level of performance. The cost ratings take into account the total cost of care for treating a whole person or specific conditions (inclusive of lab tests, x-rays, etc.). The cost ratings are displayed on a scale of one to four dollar signs, with one dollar sign indicating more efficiency in diagnosing and treating conditions, lower fees for care, or both. HealthPartners also reports on the quality and cost of care at hospitals and specialty centers in Minnesota.

Synopsis: The State of California Office of the Patient Advocate (OPA) in collaboration with the California Healthcare Performance Information System (CHPI) reports on the clinical performance of over 200 medical groups who provide care to commercial HMO health plan members in California. The report shows whether medical groups in California are meeting national standards for using effective treatments and providing recommended care. Medical groups are also rated based on patients’ experiences and total cost of care. Patients’ experiences are measured using the Patient Assessment Survey (PAS), which is administered by CHPI. Medical groups’ scores are displayed as star ratings, with four stars for excellent performance and one star for poor performance.

The scores are represented by one to five stars, with five stars being the best. The survey also collects patients’ comments. Physician satisfaction ratings are only available for physicians who have received a minimum of 30 returned surveys.

Synopsis: This report contains information on the readmission and mortality rates of patients who underwent percutaneous coronary interventions (PCI) in non-federal New York State (NYS) hospitals. Hospitals in NYS where PCI is performed provide information to the Department of Health for each patient undergoing those procedures. The report looks at the performance of cardiologists who performed 200 or more PCIs during the reporting period. Cardiologists who performed fewer than 200 PCIs but performed at least one PCI per year during the reporting period are grouped together in the hospital in which the procedure was performed. The website also has additional cardiovascular disease data and statistics.
