AHRQ National Advisory Council to Meet Virtually on July 12 with 5 New Members

The National Advisory Council (NAC) for the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ) has added five new members who will convene with the Council for their next meeting on Wednesday, July 12, 11:15 a.m.-3:30 p.m. E.T. The Council, which consists of 21 members from the private sector and four ex-officio members from other Federal health agencies, provides advice to the Secretary of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services and the Director of the Agency.
The meeting will feature several presentations, including:
- Discussion of Recent AHRQ Accomplishments, Robert Otto Valdez, Ph.D., M.H.S.A., AHRQ Director.
- Discussion of AHRQ’s Aging Initiatives, Arlene Bierman, M.D., M.S., AHRQ Chief Strategy Officer.
- Discussion of AHRQ’s Consumer Experience Measurements, Henry H. Ting, M.D., M.B.A., Senior Vice President and Chief Medical Officer, Delta Air Lines, Inc.; Julie A. Brown, Director of Survey Market Development, Rand Corporation; and Robert Weech-Maldonado, Ph.D., Professor, Department of Health Services Administration, University of Alabama at Birmingham.
The new members of the council are:
- David A. Asch, M.D., M.B.A., Senior Vice Dean for Strategic Initiatives, Perelman School of Medicine, University of Pennsylvania, and John Morgan Professor of Medicine, Professor of Healthcare Management, and Professor of Operations, Information and Decisions, Wharton School.
- Thomas C. Buchmueller, Ph.D., Waldo O. Hildebrand Professor of Risk Management and Insurance; Senior Associate Dean for Faculty and Research, Ross School of Business; Professor of Health Management and Policy, School of Public Health, University of Michigan.
- Lemrey “Al” Carter, M.S., Pharm.D., R.Ph., Executive Director, National Association of Boards of Pharmacy.
- Sinsi Hernández-Cancio, J.D., Vice President for Health Justice, National Partnership for Women & Families.
- Elizabeth Mort, M.D., M.P.H., Former Senior Vice President for Quality and Safety, Chief Quality Officer, Massachusetts General Hospital and Massachusetts General Physicians Organization; Primary Care Physician, Beacon Hill Primary Care, Division of General Internal Medicine, Department of Medicine, Massachusetts General Hospital; Associate Professor, Department of Medicine and Department of Health Care Policy, Harvard Medical School.
