National Coordinating Center for AHRQ's Healthcare Extension Service: State-based Solutions to Healthcare Improvements
Applications have closed and are currently being reviewed for those wishing to establish a National Coordinating Center for AHRQ’s Healthcare Extension Service: State-based Solutions to Healthcare Improvements. AHRQ will fund one award for the Coordinating Center for up to $14.25 million over 5 years.
The Healthcare Extension Service's goal is to accelerate the dissemination and implementation of patient-centered outcomes research (PCOR) evidence to support states’ efforts to improve healthcare policy, align payment incentives, and advance clinical practice, and to reduce healthcare disparities, especially among people who are medically underserved. Its initial focus will be aimed at advancing behavioral healthcare.
The Coordinating Center will:
- Provide support and guidance for up to 15 AHRQ-supported state-based Healthcare Extension Cooperatives that will engage with organizations to identify and address barriers to better care and identify facilitators to implement patient-centered healthcare delivery improvements based on PCOR evidence.
- Collaborate with an independent National Evaluation Center (NEC) that will assess the impact and equity of Healthcare Extension Cooperative models while identifying factors associated with successes and barriers to improvement.
The Coordinating Center will provide services that include:
- Technical assistance.
- Establishment and support of learning networks of Healthcare Extension Cooperative grant recipients.
- Communications and dissemination support for the Cooperatives.
- Leadership and project management.
