How To Use the Toolkit for Reducing CAUTI in Hospitals
Toolkit for Reducing CAUTI in Hospitals
The toolkit consists of three modules–Implementation, Sustainability, and Resources—that a hospital unit can use to teach team members specific ways to adopt best practices regarding CAUTI prevention. Use of this toolkit in tandem with the AHRQ CUSP Toolkit to create or enhance a culture of safety can significantly decrease rates of CAUTI and other risks associated with indwelling urinary catheter use.
Each module contains some or all of the following materials:
Guides (Word): The guides explain how to plan, implement, and sustain a CAUTI prevention project and create a culture of safety.
Tools (PDF, Word, or MP4): The tools include items such as pocket cards, template policies, posters, brochures, and checklists. Some materials can be modified to fit a team’s needs.
Archived Webinars (PowerPoint, Word, and MP3 or MP4): Various topics from the On the CUSP: Stop CAUTI program were presented by subject matter experts, frontline providers, and researchers, and were archived for educational use. The archive consists of slides, transcripts, and recordings of the original presentations of each Webinar. The slides explain the main ideas of each Webinar. These slides should be shown in slide show view and can be viewed by one person on a computer or advanced by a facilitator during a group presentation. Each Webinar in the archive also has a transcript and an audio or video recording of the original presentation. Webinars with an audio recording can be accessed by viewing the slide presentation with the audio recording. Webinars with a video recording can be accessed by viewing the video recording.
Modules can be used in whatever order the user wishes.
Links to these products are located on the pages for each module, accessible through the Toolkit for Reducing CAUTI in Hospitals Modules page.
