Guides
- Applying CUSP To Promote Safe Surgery (PDF, 508 KB)
This guide provides an overview of the Comprehensive Unit-based Safety Program (CUSP) and its application to the surgical setting. It highlights some materials that can be used from the core CUSP toolkit. In addition, five supplemental tools support the surgical setting.
- Surgical Complication Prevention (PDF, 465.8 KB)
The Surgical Complication Prevention guide provides further information about developing quality improvement interventions in the surgical setting. It can help hospitals identify evidence-based clinical/technical interventions on which to focus improvement efforts. It explores using the TRIP model as a framework and the 4Es implementation model (engage, educate, execute, and evaluate). It also introduces surgical care audit tools to critically assess your perioperative processes, and additional resources.
Instructional Modules
Fifteen instructional modules focus on onboarding, implementation, and sustainability phases. Each module is designed to be delivered as part of a 1-hour subject matter expert-led presentation. Individuals may also wish to review the training modules.
