Tools and Resources To Help Hospitals Choose an ISCR Program

This section gives a high-level overview of the Improving Surgical Care and Recovery (ISCR) program to support hospitals in implementing evidence-based enhanced recovery pathways. The Overview lists the tools and materials, organized in the following sections: choosing a service line pathway, planning and engaging stakeholders for your pathway, implementing your ISCR pathway, measuring the impact of your ISCR program, and sustaining and spreading an ISCR program. Included is a one-page visual roadmap of key practices for each phase of perioperative care and a one-page Implementation Phaseline. The 12-month phaseline suggests a certain number of months for program phases. Use your judgement to determine if a longer period is needed for these different phases. The presentation and accompanying facilitator guide summarize the development of the ISCR program and highlight some of the evidence that supports the pathway recommendations.
