September 2024 | AHRQ Post-Webcast Materials for “Enhancing Surgical Team Communication: SOPS® and TeamSTEPPS® in Action” This webcast provided background on AHRQ’s Surveys on Patient Safety Culture® (SOPS®) Program, the TeamSTEPPS® 3.0 team training curriculum, and how the use of TeamSTEPPS improves SOPS scores. A representative from the University of North Carolina Division of Healthcare Engineering highlighted how concepts drawn from the SOPS Hospital Survey and TeamSTEPPS resources were applied to virtual reality training, and how these efforts improved patient safety culture and team communication in the hospital surgery department. June 2024 | AHRQ Post-Webcast Materials for "Using AHRQ’s SOPS® Hospital Survey and Workplace Safety Item Set: Experiences From a State Hospital Association" This webcast highlighted how the Indiana Hospital Association (IHA) used AHRQ's Surveys on Patient Safety Culture® (SOPS®) Hospital Survey and Workplace Safety Supplemental Item Set to assess patient safety culture and workplace safety in 41 Indiana hospitals. Speakers discussed their member organizations’ survey results, how SOPS resources were used, and their focus on initiatives to address workplace safety, including burnout. AHRQ SOPS Workplace Safety Supplemental Item Set for Nursing Homes Now Available The AHRQ SOPS Workplace Safety Supplemental Item Set for Nursing Homes is now available. The new item set assesses staff perceptions of workplace safety, including protection from workplace hazards, addressing inappropriate resident behavior toward staff, interactions among staff, work stress/burnout, and overall rating. Results from a pilot test (PDF, 3 MB) of the Workplace Safety Supplemental Item Set in 48 U.S. nursing homes are also available. |
