Prevent Device/Procedure Infections
Staphylococcus aureus is the most commonly-identified Gram-positive organism causing both ventilator-associated pneumonia (VAP) and non-ventilator healthcare-associated pneumonia (NV-HAP). Prevention of VAP and NV-HAP is a crucial, yet sometimes-overlooked aspect of MRSA prevention.
This section focuses on preventing device-related infections by reducing or eliminating VAP. While NV-HAP is technically not device-related, there are some common themes to prevention.
